We are a u3a based in Bury, Lancs, and are part of National Organisation of u3as across the UK. Our members are drawn from Bury and the surrounding area and we partake in a wide of activities aimed at keeping our brains active, having fun and meeting friends. We are a self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment, and provide opportunities for members to share experiences and to pursue educational, creative and leisure activities in a friendly environment.
Bury U3A, Lancashire, is one of more than a 1,000 u3as spread across the UK. Our members are making the most of life by continuing their creative, educational and social interests in Bury, Prestwich, Whitefield, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom, Tottington and the neighbouring areas. From walking to talking, current affairs to luncheon groups, photography to philosophy, bridge to birdwatching - the choice is endless - and the decision about what to do is made by the members for the members.
Non-members are welcome to attend our Monthly meeting and see what we do. This is on the third Tuesday of every month at Bury Met, except for August. £1 entry. The doors open at 1pm and we start at 1:30. We have an interesting speaker, but in December we have a social event.
For a modest annual fee you can join Bury u3a, and join in with our activities across the Borough. Joining in is made easier when you're surrounded by others who have similar interests to you. For those of you who have retired or have chosen to work part-time after retirement, Bury u3a welcomes you if you live in Bury or the surrounding district.
